備註: GBIF: Phaius tancarvilleae is syn of Calanthe tankervilleae FOHK: Terrestrial perennial herb; pseudobulbs large, oblique-ovoid or conical, 3–6 × 3–3.5 cm, often partially covered by degenerated leaf-bases; cataphylls green, sheathing. Leaves 2–6, elliptic or oblong-lanceolate, plicate, glabrous, 20–60 × 3–10 cm, base attenuating into a petiole, apex acuminate; petiole 9–20 cm. Inflorescence a raceme, bracts membraneous, caducous, cymbiform; flowers large, resupinate, uniform in colour and shape, white outside, brown inside; sepals subequal, ovate-elliptic or oblong-lanceolate, 4–6 × 1–1.5 cm, base subcordate, apex acute and apiculate; petals elliptic or oblong, same length with sepals but slightly narrower, base cuneate and slightly reflexed, apex acuminate and slightly recurved; lip trumpet-like, embracing the column, base slightly adnate to the column-foot, the basal two-thirds of the outside whitish purple, the apical one-third dull purple, lighter along the margin, the basal portion of the inside dull purple maculated with darker lines towards the base, slightly villose with 2 calli at the middle; column white, apical end winged; anther white, protected by wings of the column; pollinia 8 in 4 pairs; ovary glabrous, whitish green. Locality: Mount Parker, Sham Chung, Tai Mo Shan, Sai Kung. S. Y. Hu 9926, 11844 (CUHK); P. S. Choi 251. Distribution: Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Xizang, Fujian, Taiwan; tropical and subtropical Asia, Australia. Ecology: Shade banks of streams in forests. Flowering: Mar.–Apr. Uses: Ornamental. Notes: The type specimen of Phaius tankervilliae (L’Her.) Blume f. veronicae S. Y. Hu & Barretto (S. Y. Hu 13145A, K, holotype; CUHK, isotype) was collected from Mount Parker in 1975. This coloured form is distinguished by the lemon-yellow sepal and petals, the lip being more tubular with a smaller ruffled yellow apical portion, and the anther being densely pilose on the sides. Moreover, a distinct species P. wallichii Lindl. has been reported recently by Cribb et al. (Kew Bull. 59: 547–554, fig. 3–4. 2004; voucher specimen: Barretto 146, K). Locally known from the estate of the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) and thus being referred as the “Kadoorie Phaius” (Barretto, Check List of Plants at KFBG: 57. 2004), P. wallichii could be distinguished by these features: flowering spreading; tepals ochre-coloured, acuminate; lip with a yellow and purple-marked throat and a large, white, cuspidate, deflexed midlobe; spur slender, 11–20 mm long, distinctly bifid at the tip. | |
